The Villa Serena offered a charming atmosphere. I loved the historic decor and intricate tiles throughout the property. Walking to nearby restaurants and the beach took less than ten minutes, making it a prime location for exploring beautiful Mazatlan. The kitchen was equipped for basic food prep, which added convenience during my stay. One of my favorite spots was the terrace, perfect for enjoying morning coffee. However, the shower leaked onto the bathroom floor, which was inconvenient. I also noticed some maintenance issues, like uncomfortable seating in the living area. Satisfying my needs required a bit more effort since cleaning services only occurred upon request, which is typical for this type of setup. Still, the place felt cozy overall, and I appreciated not being in a crowded hotel setting.

the shower didn't just leak, it practically created its own indoor pool. and don't even get me started on the fridge and microwave that needed a manual to operate. i would have appreciated a token of apology for my troubles, but alas, my plaintive cries for service fell upon deaf ears. can anyone say inadequate?

Is it really that good? my take
This place radiates authentic Mexican charm! The design immerses you in local culture while the friendly staff create a harmonious atmosphere. Walking to nearby attractions was effortless and enjoyable, making exploration a delight.
Be prepared for stair climbing and a thorny bush adventure to reach your room! Housekeeping operates on request, which might leave you longing for that hotel service touch during your stay.

Mexican decor, beautiful tile, central courtyard
Living room furniture extremely uncomfortable!!! Hot water issues upstairs persisted despite repairs!!! Lacking essential items like dish towels and coffee filters!!! Unusual closet placement forces use of suitcases!!!

Charming courtyard filled with beautiful Mexican tiles.
The lack of a front desk made late arrivals troublesome. Climbing up two flights of stairs through thorny bougainvillea was frustrating. Cleaning services only occurred on request, which made this feel less like a hotel and more like an inconvenience.

Charming community and rich decor
Staying at Villa Serena Centro Historico felt like joining a tight-knit family. My mornings started with delightful coffee brewed by cheerful staff, and the peaceful courtyard was a hidden gem amidst the bustling city.
However, the shower had a minor leak that got a bit inconvenient, and the apartment could have used more furnishings to make it cozier, like an extra table for meals.

great stay but minor disturbances
The cleanliness of the place was exceptional. I appreciated the hygienic environment. The beds are huge and comfortable, providing a restful sleep, especially in the quiet evenings. The location is perfect for exploring the local area, with several restaurants just a short walk away. I also loved that we had a lovely city view during our stay.
However, there was a neighbourhood dog that occasionally disrupted the peace at odd hours.
